Mr. Chris Higginbottom
Coach Higginbottom graduated from Red Bay High School and went on to Northwest-Shoals Community College. He graduated with a B.S. in education from the University of North Alabama and then earned his masters from there as well. He earned his specialist degree in administration from Delta State University. He has coached at Belmont since 2005, and before that, he coached at Burnsville Middle School from 2001 until 2005. He is happily married to Ashley Higginbottom, and they have two children, Callie and Casen. He was chosen as Burnsville Middle School Teacher of the year in 2004, Tishomingo County School District Teacher of the year in 2004, and Belmont Middle School's teacher of the year in 2016. Coach Higginbottom has had a very successful coaching career. He has led Belmont to four state championships (2010, 2012, 2015, 2021) and to three runner-ups (2014, 2019, 2022). He has led Belmont to twelve state tournament appearances (2006, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022) and has led Belmont to play for the state championship seven times in the last thirteen seasons (2010, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2019, 2021, 2022). He was chosen as the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2015, the Northeast Mississippi Basketball Association Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2015, and the Division 1-3A and Division 1-2A Coach of the Year. He was also chosen as the Mississippi Association Coaches North Junior All-Star Coach in 2010 and 2021 and the Northeast Mississippi Coaches Association All-Star Coach in 2006, 2008, 2015, 2018, and 2021.
