Comprehensive Youth Wellness and Prevention Initiative Rolled Out Across All District Campuses at No Cost to Local Taxpayers
IUKA, MS — The Tishomingo County School District (TCSD) is proud to announce a major partnership with ThriveWay to implement two transformative student support initiatives across the district: the Peer Helpers PLUS program and the Prevention and Awareness of Total Health (P.A.T.H.) curriculum.
This multi-tiered wellness and prevention framework will serve students across all district campuses in Belmont, Burnsville, Iuka, and Tishomingo. The initiative is fully supported through funding from the Mississippi Opioid Settlement Fund, enabling the school district to introduce these comprehensive resources at no cost to the district or local taxpayers.
Prevention and Awareness of Total Health (P.A.T.H.) Curriculum
The P.A.T.H. curriculum is an evidence-aligned educational resource designed to empower students with foundational health concepts, positive character traits, and essential life skills. Designed to adapt to student growth from elementary through high school, the curriculum proactively addresses modern social, emotional, and physical challenges before they manifest in crisis.
The core curriculum provides structured lessons across several critical areas:
Physical Health & Safety: Promoting daily personal wellness, safety awareness, and healthy life choices.
Mental Wellness: Building emotional literacy, stress management strategies, and practical coping mechanisms.
Bullying & Cyberbullying Prevention: Cultivating empathy, respectful communication, and positive digital citizenship.

Engaging Families Through Parent Access Links
Recognizing that student success requires collaboration between educators and families, the P.A.T.H. program incorporates dedicated Parent Access Links. These digital portals give parents and guardians full visibility into classroom topics, providing access to instructional videos, informational handouts, and guided discussion prompts to encourage ongoing dialogue at home.
Parents or guardians who wish to review materials, request access codes, or discuss opt-out options for specific curriculum components are encouraged to contact their school's guidance counselor.
Empowering Students: The Peer Helpers PLUS Program
Complementing the P.A.T.H. curriculum, the Peer Helpers PLUS program utilizes a proven peer-to-peer support dynamic: young people naturally turn to their peers first when experiencing stress, personal hardship, or social difficulty.
Through carefully structured selection and training, student Peer Helpers across TCSD campuses will be equipped with core support and mentoring skills. These student leaders are trained to assist classmates who may be navigating:
