BMS brought the thrift shop to kick off HOCO week!👚👔

5th and 6th grade students had exciting and educational morning learning important safety skills through hands-on demonstrations and conversations with local safety professionals! 🌊 Water Safety: Students learned about the proper use of life jackets and what to do if someone needs to be rescued from the water. 🐕 Drug Safety: Students learned about the dangers of taking medication that isn’t prescribed to them and got to see a K9 demonstration showing how these specially trained dogs assist with drug detection. 🚔 Highway Safety: Students experienced a car rollover simulation and learned firsthand why wearing a seatbelt is so important. 🛞 4-Wheeler Safety: Students learned the importance of wearing a helmet, staying off highways, and practicing safe riding habits. We are incredibly thankful to the Belmont Police Department, Belmont Fire Department, Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mississippi Department of Public Safety, and 4-H for taking the time to set up, visit with our students, and share such valuable safety information.

Yesterday, 5th and 6th grade students gathered in front of the Elementary for "See You At The Pole", the national day of student prayer. Over 100 students attended! Music was provided by Mrs. Myers, Mr. Burns, and Mrs. Wanda with prayer led by Mr. Jeremy Lincoln.✝️🙏🏼

🌎🧁 Learning Plate Tectonics…with a SWEET twist! 🌎 Our 8th grade students had a blast learning about plate tectonics and the different landforms created at each type of plate boundary! 🌋⛰️ To bring the lesson to life, students used graham crackers and icing to model how Earth’s tectonic plates move and interact.

🇺🇸Our 8th graders had the opportunity to welcome Mayor Brandon Pharr, Alderman Ken Dulaney, and State Senator Daniel Sparks in recognition of Constitution Day. Our guests spent time with students discussing the rights, privileges, and responsibilities that come with American citizenship, as well as the importance of understanding how our government works. Each student received a personal copy of the United States Constitution to encourage them to learn more about the document that serves as the foundation of our government. We are grateful to our community leaders for taking the time to connect with our students and help make Constitution Day a meaningful learning experience! 🇺🇸📖

🎭Our 5th grade students have been learning about drama in literature! To deepen their understanding, students took turns reading lines from their weekly story.📚

💛Today, our middle school students are wearing yellow in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness. This cause is especially meaningful to our school community, as several of our own families have been affected by this. We stand together in support of these families and all those facing childhood cancer.💛🎗️

🧑‍🔬👩‍🔬Our 7th grade students have been diving into the fascinating world of atoms! The students had fun building their own atomic models while putting their science knowledge to the test. 🧠✨ Who knew learning about protons, neutrons, and electrons could be this much fun?! ⚛️

🏄🏻‍♂️🏍️BMS was ready to hang ten or hit the road for surfer vs. biker day!🤙🔥
